Who is GRAND Fit?

Updated: Mar 11, 2021

Grand Fit Educational Consulting LLC. For four years, I served 400+ students at a large public Metro Atlanta High School as a school counselor. I helped with their personal/social as well as academic, college, and career needs. During this time, I fell in love with college counseling and realized how little I was able to do each day. While I did host Apply to College Days, met with college admissions representatives, and organized college fairs, I wanted more. I didn’t feel like I was able to truly help my caseload navigate the waters of college. In June 2018, I decided to make the change to become an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC).

As an IEC, I work for students and families on an individual level. We meet more frequently throughout the entire college process. I first assess the students’ strengths, interests, and goals. Then, we discuss the GRAND factors important to them in their future college. This results in a GRAND Fit college list. During the summer and fall of senior year, we focus on personal statements and supplemental essays for college applications. By offering continuous support, I hope to minimize the stress often associated with this time in a student’s life by creating an organized system for the family to follow. While many students begin during the Sophomore year, I have services for any step of the process.

I received a B.S. in Psychology and M.Ed. in Professional School Counseling from the University of Georgia. During undergrad, I supplemented my coursework with courses in Education, Social Work, and Counseling. I also received a Post-Graduate Certificate in College Consulting from the University of California- Irvine.

Professional development is important to me. I am an active member of HECA (Higher Educational Consulting Association) and SACAC (Southern Association of College Admissions Counselors), and I attend dozens of seminars and webinars each year to stay up-to-date on college admissions trends. Since I am a believer in the importance of college tours, I have visited over 115 college campuses around the country, and try to see 20+ a year.

Outside of college admissions, I enjoy reading, traveling with my husband, and spending time with our 2 cats, Zelda & Link.

I’d love to get to know my readers, so leave a comment, or feel free to ask any questions!
